The Mountain Playhouse has been producing live, professional, Equity theater in the Laurel Highlands since 1939. The theater is a former grist mill which was discovered in Roxbury, Somerset County. It was dismantled log by log and moved to its current site in 1939. The theater opened on June 24, 1939, with a production of "High Tor."
