Kind mechanic in the middle of nowhere Tennessee

After having our car break down in what appeared to be the middle of nowhere, we quickly found out we were correct - we were in the mountains, with the closest town being that of Jellico, TN, a very small town in Tennessee. Looking for a mechanic to have our car towed to, we realized there are only three in Jellico, and chose to go with Slim's Garage, mostly because the name appealed to us - and a good choice it was!

Slim turned out to be the man in charge of Slim's Garage (big surprise, I know) and was a genuinely kind individual who was able to have our parts ordered and the car fixed by the next working day. He seemed honest and was helpful in getting us back on the road. The garage is small, the stalls seemed to fit only two cars at a time, but Slim had 2 other mechanics working with him. And his labor rate was low compared to what we are used to - only $40/hour!

So if you are out in Jellico and need a mechanic, I'd recommend going to Slim's!

After having our car break down en route along Interstate 75, we had our car towed to Slim's Garage - and are glad that we did! Slim was very courteous & friendly and was able to get the needed parts shipped and installed quickly. He seemed like an honest mechanic and his labor rate was very low, probably because Jellico is a very small town far from everything, but you can't beat $40/hour!The only negative aspect was that he did not investigate another worrisome sound coming from the engine, which caused us to have to take the car to our regular mechanic a few days later (after arriving home). But I suppose we didn't ask he to fix everything about our old car! =)All in all, if you happen to need a mechanic and are around Jellico, Slim's your man!
