In 2000, Fontaine purchased the British fifth wheel manufacturer VGB Limited. VGB Limited is the United Kingdom s largest fifth wheel manufacturer and has long term relationships with most of the major European heavy-duty truck manufacturers. In 2003, Fontaine purchased the UK fifth wheel manufacturer Big D and the company started production in Brazil. It is Fontaine International's intention to build on its North American, European and South American fifth wheel businesses with the goal of becoming the industry s preferred worldwide supplier. Fontaine International is a Marmon Highway Technologies company and is headquartered in Birmingham.
