The Queens Parent Resource Center is a nonprofit agency that serves individuals with mental retardation and developmental disabilities. The center provides residential, day habilitation and after-school respite programs. Its residential locations are selected to optimize availability of community resources, such as stores, banks and postal services. The Queens Parent Resource Center s respite care programs serve developmentally disabled children between the ages of 5 and 12 years. The center s after-school activities include homework help, games, community outings, and arts and crafts. It additionally assists adults to maintain connections and relationships within the community. Founded in 1992, the Queens Parent Resource Center is located in Jamaica, N.Y.
