- VeneersPorcelain veneers (sometimes referred to as laminates) can change an entire smile. Thin laminates or jackets are fabricated from special tooth colored materials and can change the color, size, spacing and texture of your existing teeth. The laminates are actually bonded onto the surface of your existing teeth, giving your smile a dynamic, natural look. They can be used as an alternative for orthodontic treatment. The best part about porcelain laminate veneers is that they can be placed in two visits. The technique consists of first shaving a thin layer of outer tooth structure (about the thickness of an eggshell). An impression is then taken of the prepared teeth and is sent to a dental laboratory. In the lab, a ceramist makes very thin porcelain facings consisting of all the changes in shape, size, color and teeth arrangement that are needed to have a great looking smile. At the second visit, the laminates are bonded onto the prepared teeth with a white light gun. The bonding material acts as an adhesive for the laminates. Porcelain laminates are the most popular technique used for dramatic smile makeovers.
- CrownsWhen you lose a filling or crown that covers a tooth, it can be quite a painful experience. Five Points Emergency Dental can help alleviate the underlying issue. If you lose a filling or crown, or it becomes loose, call our office to schedule the earliest possible appointment.
- BridgesWhen there is not enough tooth structure left, or the chewing demands in the mouth are too great for laminates, a stronger, more extensive restoration is needed. Here we need porcelain jacket crowns. Porcelain jackets are pure porcelain crowns placed on a fully prepared tooth. They are the most life-like of all full crown type restorations. The technique initially consists of preparing the teeth. Next, an impression is taken and then sent to the dental lab where the porcelain jacket is fabricated. Finally, they are placed in the patient’s mouth and permanently cemented onto the teeth. A porcelain bridge is a similar procedure involving teeth on both sides of a space to replace missing teeth.
- Dental BondingAs specially trained cosmetic dentist, Dr. Roessler can sculpt special tooth colored materials and bond them to your teeth to fill cavities, and strengthen fractured or chipped teeth. The bonding material can also be used to replace unsightly silver fillings. The bonding material can be blended to duplicate surrounding tooth colors and texture, making them virtually impossible to detect from your natural teeth.
- Root Canal TreatmentA root canal is a common procedure that helps save a tooth from needing to be pulled—and helps save you from further pain.
- DenturesA dental implant is an artificial tooth root placed into your jaw to hold a replacement crown, bridge or denture in place. The treatment can be more conservative than traditional bridgework, since implants do not rely on neighboring teeth for support. Implant supported dentures snap in and do not move. This eliminates sore spots and the embarrassment of loose dentures. Dental implants restorations are so natural looking and feeling that you may forget you ever lost a tooth. Dental implants can be the best solution to the problem of missing teeth. Since dental implants integrate into the structure of your bone, they can prevent the bone loss and gum recession that often accompanies missing teeth. No one will ever know that you have replacement teeth.
