General Info
TEC consists of approximately 30 companies networked into a highly effective communications system. Local communication services are comprised of several telephone companies or Local Exchange Carriers. The telephone companies are hometown-based institutions that provide the most modern phone service to communities in Alabama, Mississippi and Tennessee. Long distance operations include Interexchange Carriers that provide long distance services, such as 800 service, WATS service, calling cards and private lines to residential and commercial customers. A network comprised of digital switches, fiber optic cable routes and microwave facilities completes TEC's national communications network. TEC began in 1923 with the purchase of a local phone company. Bay Springs Telephone Company had a customer base of 120 subscribers and an old magneto switchboard.

This company provides no ability for the customer to login to the modem they provide, which has been the source of much frustration on my part as I try to get various devices to connect properly. I am unable to change any of the modem's settings to suit my needs. I do not consider this a choice made by the internet provider, I consider this a problem and stupid decision that needs to be fixed.

I received numerous phone calls from AT&T telling me that I would be able to get free long distance services and would pay a fraction of the cost of what I was currently paying with them. All I needed to do was extend my contract for two years. I finally gave in and to my surprise, I received none of the things that I was promised. Come to find out, the person on the phone said they "represent" AT&T, which means they're an agent for AT&T. They have a scheme whereby they promise all these great things, only to forget to include the offers after the contract is renewed. It was a major struggle with AT&T to get my contract removed. After that experience, I went to TEC. I've not experienced customer service like this in a long time. Their attention to detail is fantastic, and I really felt like I was their only concern. Their proposal was very detailed and I could easily see what I was paying vs. what I would be paying with TEC. They saved me money and helped me get rid of AT&T! AWESOME!
