The Mississippi Department of Human Services provides foster care, adoption, individual protection and child care assistance services. Located in Jackson, Miss., the department also offers adult day care, case management, transportation and legislative issue handling services. Its child support enforcement services include paternity establishment and the collection, distribution and enforcement of support orders. The Mississippi Department of Human Services operates the Adolescent Offender Program (AOP), which includes treatment, counseling and recreational therapy services. In addition, the department provides procurement, evaluation and counseling services. It offers the Food Stamp Program, which includes financial assistance for low-income individuals and families to purchase food. The department operates through community services, human resources, management information systems and program integrity divisions.
