Jackson County Intermediate School District has been operational for more than 35 years. Located in Jackson, Mich., it is one of the leading school districts in the United States. In addition to its elementary, middle and high schools, the district oversees the functioning of several other departments, including career, technical and special education, educators' support initiatives, reading recovery classes, curriculum and assessment divisions, and math and science center. It offers a wide variety of special programs, such as great parents, great start-Jackson, camp McGregor, safe and drug free schools, girl quest, family backpacks and asset building sessions. Additionally, the school district provides assessment initiatives, career counseling, peer tutoring, test preparation solutions, curriculum development, financial aid, and after school programs.
