Formed in 1873, the Jackson Police Department offers a range of citizens services that includes firearms permits and release, accident reports, alarm permits and auto release. It supports various special programs, including Gang Resistance Education and Training and Drug Abuse Resistance Education, which teach children about the dangers of drugs, alcohol and tobacco.
