The Housing Authority of the Township of Irvington was incorporated in 1949 in order to develop, maintain, manage and provide affordable rental housing for low-income senior citizens and families. It manages more than 670 rental units and administers over 600 Section 8 vouchers. The authority s housing management office oversees the general management of 670 units. Its drug elimination program provides assistance, guidance and direction to resident who are involved with drugs and has a desire to get help. The housing authority s on-site facilities include a gymnasium and community and computer centers. It offers a range of resident services, including Meals on Wheels, free blood pressure screenings, annual outdoor health fairs, counseling and transportation.
