The United States Defense Contract Audit Agency is responsible for performing all contract audits for the Department of Defense and providing accounting and financial advisory services regarding contracts and subcontracts to all DoD components responsible for procurement and contract administration. These services are provided in connection with negotiation, administration and settlement of contracts and subcontracts. DCAA also provides contract audit services to other government agencies. DCAA provides a variety of products and services to contracting officers, such as preaward contract audit services that include price proposals, preaward surveys, forward pricing labor and overhead rates; postaward contract audit services that include incurred costs/annual overhead rates, truth in negotiation act compliance, cost accounting standards compliance and adequacy, claims and financial capability; contractor internal control system audits that include accounting, estimating, electronic data processing, compensation, billing, budgeting, material management, labor, purchasing, and indirect and other direct costs.
