The Community Development Department is governed by the city of Irvine in California, which additionally manages purchasing, fire and public works divisions. The department is comprised of planning and redevelopment and housing divisions. Its development services division is responsible for providing support to the community and processes applications for environmental assessments, landscaping reviews and sign requests. The department s building and safety division administers and enforces building codes and ordinances, as well as provides field inspection, plan checking and permit issuance solutions for new construction projects. The Community Development Department operates a permit processing center that is designed to review incoming projects. It administers the Homelessness Prevention and Rapid Re-Housing Program.
