The Ironwood staff are some of the most polite professional people I've ever met. Their work effort is derived from Detroit & Northern Savings & Loan originally, later Republic then and now Citizens. The later of the two bank names are nothing more than poor excuses for financial institutions to say the least. Republic was nothing more than go between in tearing up community banks, with Citizens just more of the same. It will be just a matter of time before Citizen (a Flint MI bank holding company) goes under by merger with yet another bank. In the end we will all end up with just a couple major bank holding companies that will be able to name their price and if we don't like it, then tough. Eliminating small community banks and competition will be fatal. Our country was founded on it's independence and unfortunately we are slowly but surely losing it. That's just my opinion, but after working for D&N, I feel it is doomed not by our local hard working staff, but by others.
