Our mission is to help enrich and lengthen the special relationship between people and their pets. We're also committed to the welfare of companion animals everywhere, and are actively involved in supporting the veterinary profession and shelters. In every aspect, we are making a difference for people and their pets all over the world.
- Comprehensive ExaminationToday's modern anesthetic monitors have made surgery much safer than in the past. Here at Northland Veterinary Services, we do a thorough physical exam on your pet before administering anesthetics, to ensure that a fever or other illness won't be a problem. We also adjust the amount and type of anesthetic used depending on the health of your pet.
- Parasites Treatment and ControlInterceptor Plus Chewable heartworm and intestinal parasite prevention. Interceptor Plus also includes dewormer for roundworms, hookworms, tapeworms, and whipworms.
- Pain ManagementAnything that causes pain in people can be expected to cause pain in animals. Pets may not show the same symptoms of pain as people do; they usually don't whine or cry, but you can be sure they feel it. Pain medications needed will depend on the surgery performed. Major procedures require more pain relief than things like minor lacerations.

- Heart Disease TreatmentDuring a dental cleaning, plaque and tartar are removed from a pet’s teeth, and the health of the entire mouth is assessed. A thorough dental cleaning can be accomplished only while the pet is under general anesthesia. Anesthesia keeps your pet free of pain during the dental procedure and allows your veterinarian to fully inspect the teeth and remove tartar from under the gums. During anesthesia, a soft plastic tube is inserted into the main airway in the throat to support the patient’s breathing, an intravenous catheter is placed for your pet to receive fluids, and blood pressure, heart rate, and ECG/EKG monitors are placed to monitor your pet.
- Kidney Disease TreatmentWe are all sad as we say goodbye to our beloved companion Toes. Toes has been battling with kidney disease for years and Dr. Brilla layed him to mid September of 2015 Even though we will all miss him, we can find some peace in knowing that he will be reunited with his long time friend, Radar. Toes has always been a constant in our Clinic and in our hearts and we will miss him greatly.
- Periodontal Disease TreatmentPeriodontal disease starts when plaque; a mixture of bacteria and food debris, mineralizes into calculus. This process takes only 48 hours and once formed it cannot simply be "brushed away". The calculus leads to gingivitis (infection of the gum) and periodontal disease; that left untreated can result in the loss of bone and eventually teeth.

- Laboratory ServicesWe offer two levels of in-house blood testing before surgery, which we will go over with you when you bring your pet in.
