  WARNING: DISTANT SPREAD OF TOXIN EFFECT Postmarketing reports indicate that the effects of BOTOX® Cosmetic and all botulinum toxin products may spread from the area of injection to produce symptoms consistent with botulinum toxin effects. These may include asthenia, generalized muscle weakness, diplopia, ptosis, dysphagia, dysphonia, dysarthria, urinary incontinence and breathing difficulties. These symptoms have been reported hours to weeks after injection. Swallowing and breathing difficulties can be life threatening and there have been reports of death. The risk of symptoms is probably greatest in children treated for spasticity but symptoms can also occur in adults treated for spasticity and other conditions, particularly in those patients who have an underlying condition that would predispose them to these symptoms. In unapproved uses, including spasticity in children, and in approved indications, cases of spread of effect have been reported at doses comparable to those used to treat cervical dystonia and upper limb spasticity and at lower doses.
• Pneumonia
  Serious adverse reactions, including excessive weakness, dysphagia, and aspiration pneumonia, with some adverse reactions associated with fatal outcomes, have been reported in patients who received BOTOX® injections for unapproved uses. In these cases, the adverse reactions were not necessarily related to distant spread of toxin, but may have resulted from the administration of BOTOX® to the site of injection and/or adjacent structures. In several of the cases, patients had pre-existing dysphagia or other significant disabilities. There is insufficient information to identify factors associated with an increased risk for adverse reactions associated with the unapproved uses of BOTOX®. The safety and effectiveness of BOTOX® for unapproved uses have not been established.

  Dr. Melissa Hummel, Internal Medicine, Sleep Medicine Specialist, Employed by Rejuvenations Medical Spa since opening in 2005. She is certified by The American Board of Internal Medicine for Internal Medicine and Sleep Medicine. Dr. Hummel attended medical school at Medical University of South Carolina School of Medicine and graduated in 2000. She is an experienced and fully trained Neurotoxin (Botox Cosmetic/Dysport), dermal filler, Sculptra, and Kybella injector. She is a member of the APA (Aesthetic Practice Association) and has participated in numerous injector training programs around the country over the years she has been with Rejuvenations. She has trained with Allergan (Duets), Radiesse, Restylane, Botox Cosmetic, and the prestigious Progressive Aesthetic Learning Essentials to Technical Expertise (P.A.L.E.T.T.E). She is normally scheduled at Rejuvenations every other Monday, every Thursday, as well as alternating Friday afternoons. In an effort to accommodate everyone's busy work schedule, Dr. Hummel will also be available for monthly late afternoon/evening Wednesday appointments and one Saturday a month.

  April has over 20 years experience as a Registered Nurse, she received her Bachelor's degree (BSN) in 1998. She has worked in many different areas of nursing (medical/surgical, urology, OR/recovery room and pain management). She is trained on Cutera Laser's (Trusculpt, Laser Genesis, Limelight, Hair Removal) chemical peels, and microneedling. April is also trained to perform the following injectables: Botox, Dysport, Juvederm, Voluma, Volbella, Restylane, Restylane Lyft, Restylane Refyne & Defyne, and Kybella. April works Tuesday through Friday at Rejuvenations, alternating various days off.

  PDT (PhotoDynamic Therapy) is a procedure that uses photosensitizing chemistry and very finely tuned light to selectively cleanse and disinfect your skin while stimulating its natural defenses against sun damage, acne and even pre-cancerous keratoses. Often it reverses aging and can even reduce scarring from severe acne. Our photosensitizing agent, Levulan® Kerastick® (aminolevulinic acid HCl) for Topical Solution, 20% (LEVULAN KERASTICK), plus illumination is indicated for the treatment of minimally to moderately thick actinic keratosis of the face or scalp. Actinic keratoses (AKs) are rough-textured, dry, scaly patches on the skin that can lead to skin cancer. It is important to treat AKs because there is no way to tell when or which lesions will progress to squamous cell carcinoma (SCC), the second most common form of skin cancer. So, now's the time to manage your damage!
