The Ionia County Office of Sheriff seeks to preserve the peace, enforce the laws and arrest and commit to jail felons and other infractors of statutory or common law in Ionia, Mich. The office executes and carries out the mandates, orders and direction of the courts. It is the chief law enforcement body in the county and has jurisdiction everywhere within the county. The Ionia County Office of Sheriff s duties include maintaining a jail, road and marine patrol, complaint investigation, civil process, court security and attending to all other matters of concern to the public. The office coordinates neighborhood watch and burglary prevention programs. It was established in 1837.
