Jefferson Elementary School offers educational instruction to students in grades kindergarten through five. The school has an enrollment of more than 900 students and is a part of the Lennox Elementary School District. It utilizes Lee Canter s Assertive Discipline program. Through its Literacy First Reading Model, the school offers direct instruction in reading to students for two hours. Its teachers participate in three years of training to meet the needs of every child based on individual assessments. The school holds trimester awards assemblies to recognize students for principal s honor roll, citizen of the month and perfect attendance. It encourages students to participate in various extracurricular activities, such as music and knitting clubs, Learning for Life, dance and fitness clubs, student council, and computer and homework clubs.
