- Medical Weight LossA fit and well-proportioned body is often considered a symbol of vitality and health. However, despite a reasonably good level of health and fitness, some people may still have disproportionate body contours due to localized fat deposits. These areas may be due to genetic heredity or familial traits rather than lack of weight control or fitness. Still others may have excess skin after weight loss or illness. If you would like to improve the shape of your body, body countouring surgery in Indianapolis at Wagner and Associates may be a good choice. Dr. Wagner can remove localized fatty deposits that do not respond to diet or exercise. He can restore body contours by removing excess skin to improve your proportions and, ultimately, enhance your self-image.
- Primary CareA common misconception is that breast implants need to be replaced or lifted every few years. This idea keeps many women from getting the procedure they want because they are worried about long-term costs and future surgeries. Breast implants last longer than you may think which means there is no reason to plan on having a major surgery every few years for the rest of your life. You should be aware that you may have one or two follow-up surgeries in your lifetime. It’s not a given, but it is better to be prepared for the possibility than to be surprised when you experience a complication or dissatisfaction with your implants. When it comes to the “average lifespan†of implants, there are no guarantees. Some will last a lifetime, while others have complications within a few years. On average, the majority of implants last 10-20 years without complications. Recent FDA reports indicate that about 20% of women will have their breast implants repaired or replaced within 10 years of the original surgery. In most cases, breast implant results last a very long time. It is important to monitor the status of your implants regularly. Those with saline implants can check their status easily by looking in a mirror. The leakage of saline implants is immediate and more obvious. A ruptured implant will deflate and the saline would be absorbed by the body. Your breasts will continue to age over time due to pregnancy, weight fluctuations, hormonal factors, and/or aging. Loss of elasticity can affect how things look. The normal aging process affects all breasts even those with implants. Silicone implants have more of a ‘silent rupture’ which is not as obvious as a saline rupture. The silicone gel implants have a cohesive gel product so the implant stays intact and together in the event of a rapture. The FDA does recommend that patients occasionally check their silicone implants for a rupture with an MRI. The FDA guidelines are to check them after 3 years with an MRI and then every 2 years for as long as you have the implants. We always recommend that your receive regular mammogram testing and any other additional breast testing recommended by your primary care physician and your Ob/Gyn physician.

- Skin CareIn addition, a family history of cutaneous cancer or having numerous (more than 20 or so) pigmented skin spots (moles) may mean you could be at higher genetic risk for developing some types of skin cancer. Because the damage to your skin associated with photoaging are cumulative and largely permanent, prevention is the best strategy. Precautions to minimize sun damage are recommended. Excessive tanning and sun damage is counter-intuitive to long-term skin health and is not recommended by most medical skin care professionals. Protection from ultraviolet radiation is important to avoid premature photoaging and cancer.
