Established in 2007, the Indianapolis Metropolitan Police Department works to provide a safe and secure environment, safeguard lives and property, preserve peace, and maintain law and order. It is comprised of more than 1,500 sworn officers and over 300 civilian employees. The department operates criminal investigation and traffic enforcement units.
