Comprised of approximately 1,200 sworn officers and 300 civilian employees, the Indianapolis Police Department provides police services to the central portion of Marion County, Ind. The department conducts a large number of programs and service activities beyond patrol and investigation. Major divisions include investigations, traffic enforcement and special units. From providing citizens with copies of accident reports and criminal histories, to sponsoring outreach programs relating to gun safety, Indianapolis Police Department offers services, such as citizen s services, arrestee processing, crisis intervention, outreach program and victim assistance program.
