Indiana Organ Procurement Organization is a nonprofit establishment that provides organ, tissue and eye donation services throughout Indiana. It is located in Indianapolis and has regional offices in Fort Wayne, South Bend and Evansville, Ind., to serve individuals and more than 130 hospitals. It has served as a conduit for more than 3,000 transplants since 1988, and acts as the link between people waiting for a transplant and potential donors. It coordinates organ donation with Indiana donor families, the transplant teams, the donor and recipient hospitals and recipient families. The organization provides bereavement programs and education services for the general public about organ donation through newspaper articles and inserts, radio commercials informational sheets. Indiana Organ Procurement Organization Foundation is the fundraising body that supports various events and programs to advance donations and transplants.
