I went for an acrylic set and pedicure. For such a large salon however, there weren't many girls there. I was bounced back in forth between technicians. At one point they stopped in the middle of my acrylics because a client "before me" was done with her pedicure and needed her acrylics done. I was then rushed over to my pedicure with another technician who was friendly but pushed too hard for me to get a higher priced pedicure. She said, "I wouldn't feel like I did a good job without the buffing package and it would make me happy." Wait, aren't I the client? I declined. She was persistant though. "I really think you need callous removal" she said as she massaged my feet and made a face in front of all the other clients. Ouch, that's embarrassing. In all honesty, I'm in my teens and I can say with confidence my feet did not need callous removal. She did do a nice job on the the polish. That is, until my separate acrylic technician accidently stepped on my toe later and no one offered to fix it.
After that, I waited another 20 minutes until the acrylic technician finished the other client. At one point in buffing, she hit my skin, made me bleed, and said, "Oh, am I hurting you?" Uhm, yes?! Due to the break with the "other client," she must have forgotten where she left off and forgot to trim down one hand to match the other (didn't realize until after I left of course). Now, I am left with uneven acrylics and gunk stuck underneath my nails that wasn't cleared. As the salon started to fill up, I could sense her panic as her next appointments were approaching. In an attempt to rush, she began air brushing before I could even remind her I wanted a pink french manicure, not just white tips.
All in all, I tried to avoid the cheap mall nail salons by coming to Solid. Instead, I got the same exact quality, perhaps even less quality in the acrylic department, only more pricey (about $3-8 more than mall). If you want a nice pedicure, the salon will do. Just don't be pushed over for a more expensive package than you intended, even if they insult you.
Hi Ashley, I apologize for what happened to you, we never have any intention for things like that to happen. Rarely, we have a complaint, but this one is considered really serious, and I, as the owner of the business, feel shame and hurtful when reading your story. I wish I had been there to handle it. With regard to the "higher priced push", I am sure it's a misunderstanding. We sometimes have customers complain the exact opposite way that after everything all done, they complained that we didn't let them know or recommend them the service that their feet need.
