Located in Independence, La., Independence Middle School enrolls students in grades five through eight. The school s educational program includes instruction in various subjects, such as English, math, science, art, social studies and physical education. It also provides special education programs for students with hearing disabilities. Independence Middle School maintains computer laboratories and provides computers in every classroom. Additionally, the school conducts various athletic programs that include football, basketball, cheerleading, and track and field. It promotes participation in several extracurricular events and activities. Independence Middle School is a part of theTangipahoa Parish School System, which serves more than 18,000 students and employs over 2,000 staff members. The system maintains special education, technology and business departments.
