Jesse Affonso, MD is an orthopedic surgeon specializing in elbow and shoulder injuries. He received his undergraduate degree in Chemistry from the College of the Holy Cross in Worcester, Massachusetts. He earned his medical degree from the University of Massachusetts and completed an orthopaedic residency at the University of Buffalo. Dr. Affonso completed an orthopaedic shoulder and elbow fellowship at the Johns Hopkins University Department of Orthopaedics, where he trained in state of the art treatment of the shoulder and elbow. He has worked with athletes at the high school, college and professional level, including the Baltimore Orioles. Dr. Affonso currently sees patients at our main office in Hyannis, in Sandwich and as well as a satellite office in Harwich. He performs all his surgery at Cape Cod Hospital. His interests in orthopaedics include minimally invasive arthroscopic treatment of the shoulder (rotator cuff, throwers shoulder, fractures), as well as minimally invasive treatments of the elbow. He also has extensive training in fracture care. When not providing care to the people of Cape Cod, Dr. Affonso spends his free time with his wife Megan and their four children trying to take advantage of all there is to do on the Cape. Dr. Affonso was named “Physician of the Quarter” at Cape Cod Hospital for July – August – September of 2012!
