  We will first obtain a Cone Beam CT Scan (CBCT) to assess the quality and quantity of bone. Dr. Elmore then uses the CBCT for a three-dimensional computer-assisted planning. A surgical guide is then fabricated using 3D-printing.  An interim denture is created and prepared for treatment day.
• Overdentures
  Dr. Elmore/Dr. Sims will take the final impressions and fabricates the final overdenture that fits into the implant abutments. The bite is then adjusted, and the overdenture is then checked for overall comfort, function, and aesthetics.

  For over 30 years, dental implants have been improving the lives of those who have sought the treatment. Designed to provide a foundation for replacement teeth that look, feel, and function like natural teeth, dental implants allow patients to laugh, speak, and smile with confidence. Dr. Elmore has had extensive training in dental implant surgery and completed an Advanced Residency Program at Iowa State University in 2017.  He has placed many implants and grafting  in the past 5 years from simple placement of a single dental implant to comprehensive treatment involving multiple implants.  With dental implants, a person who has lost teeth can regain the ability to eat virtually anything, knowing that teeth appear natural and that facial contours will be preserved.

Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery

• Oral Surgery
  At some point in our lives, we must decide to either let our wisdom teeth grow in – which can lead to severe complications – or have them removed. Wisdom teeth are the last adult teeth to emerge. Most people have four wisdom teeth at the back of the mouth: Two on the top and two on the bottom. When your wisdom teeth become impacted due to overcrowding, this can present an oral health problem. Wisdom teeth can be hard to clean, so they may be more vulnerable to tooth decay and gum disease than other teeth. When they have erupted partially, the opening around the teeth allows bacteria to grow and will eventually cause an infection resulting in swelling, stiffness, pain, and illness. At Sims Dentistry, we strive to provide safe and comfortable removal of all teeth that are needed to be removed. Dr. Elmore completed a specialty residency Program at Iowa State University in 2017 on oral surgery, implants and IV Sedation. We also offer several options and levels of sedation.
