Worst cable service ever..not sure how they stay in business..contract up soon, and I will find a new service..apparently many others in my area agree...
After just about a year of service my cable box starting having some issues. It seemed to be sending a signal via HDMI to my TV without being on. I'm not concerned, equipment fails, it's part of life. Called Mediacom, spoke to a rep (friday), tech should be here Sunday. This doesn't bother me, because unlike some of the other reviewers, I have a life outside of my television. The rep was friendly and fast in helping to rectify my issue. I'm leaving this review mainly because of all the horribly negative ones I see for Mediacom. They've filled their end of the contract just as they should and have been friendly the entire time. If you expect someone to be on call to get to your house within an hour or so of a service call, your expectations are WAY too high. If you've EVER worked the tech end of a customer service industry, you'd know how difficult it can be to fix things that go wrong due to various reasons, none of which are negligent. Get off your couches and go for a walk!!!

Gave 1 star because can't give zero. We have had service with Mediacom over 4 years now and all of the sudden my bill went from $52 to $107. I had signed a new agree just over 6 months ago to continue with them when another company finally installed lines in my neighborhood. Got a new 1 year agree for $52 for cable and internet dropping bill from $120 (when we had no choice for service). Should have taken the deal from the new company because when I called them today asking for them to explain they told me the sales rep who was going door-to-door had been giving out unauthorized deals. I was given no notice just a bill that had more than doubled. I asked if there was something in a better price point or if I could get one of the offers for new customers ($79 for phone, tv, and net) they told me no. Got on the website and there were lots of deals for exsisting customers. Also took them 4 weekdays to get a rep out to make a repair to the lines and they refused to credit bill.

When the service works, its good. Even if you are having software or networking problem I have had good luck at times with their technical support. However, I have had frequent hardware problems and have been subjected to frequent outages. The customer service people I talk with are the worst I have ever seen. Information doesn't seem to get from the people you talk with to the ones doing the actual work. I have yet to have them show up on the day the customer service people say they will be there, and had a customer service person argue with me once that they could not come out to repair the home phone because no one answered the home phone to verify I was at home.
If you are considering moving to their service area, DON'T! I've had internet service for over 18 years, MediaCom for the last 2 1/2. For the last 1 1/2 years of Mediacom, the service for the internet has been horrendous. Intermittent service EVERYDAY!! It?s out from 3 minutes to 4 hours constantly. In the last 2 months, their cable service for the television has started doing the same thing. When they schedule maintenance, they do NOT warn users. I?m so sick of MediaCom that I wish I could move out of their service area!!
