Generally friendly staff. Food was basically good w/ exception to the gumbo. I've eaten many kinds of gumbo. Sometimes, too gummy, too thick (not in the hearty, comforting sense), or too much of a non-pepper spice. Unless they've changed their recipe, this was one of only two restaurants I had to send the gumbo back to the kitchen. The other restaurant was Landry's in Pensacola, FL for the same following reason. I told the waiter, then the manager that the gumbo tasted like the rue was burned, leaving a nasty flavor to the gumbo that was overpowering. I was proudly told that it was Landry's "Burnt Butter Rue". I am mildly familiar with "beurre meuniere" (brown butter sauce), which has a pleasant nut like flavor. This gumbo at Landry's was plain out nasty. The rest of the food we had was pretty good & I can't steer you away from a Landry's. If you've never had gumbo before, I recommend you asking first if the rue is "burnt butter", if so just order something else.
