Mr. Jack Beckwith, the owner of Celebration Tents & Amusements, seemed very eager to do business with me. He always returned my calls and answered questions to try to accommodate my need for a tent, tables, chairs and a bounce house. One thing we didn't expect was; two weeks before my event, October 1, 2016, we'd have 8 inches of rain. It became obvious that I needed to find an in door venue. I was in contact with Mr. Beckwith several times the week before my event. He knew I was looking for another venue. Nothing was said about the deposit or the date in which I needed to cancel. I officially canceled the rental two-day prior to my event. After the event I called Mr. Beckwith and asked about my refund. In the beginning he said I didn't give enough notice, I didn't abide by the contract. I reminded Mr. Beckwith that I signed an invoice that had the items and prices listed, returned that invoice with a 50% of the expense as a deposit. I signed and returned the paper with a check as he asked. I believed that I was doing business with an honorable businessman. Mr. Beckwith then said, he would return $250 of $504.00. I told Mr. Beckwith that was unacceptable. I never was told nor given information about a time frame in which to cancel. I shouldn't be penalized for someone failing to give me the contract. Mr. Beckwith said he was out of a rental because he held those items for me. That still wasn't my fault. If I had known of a date in which to cancel I would have done so. I can't afford to just give away $504.00.Since my initial phone conversation with Mr. Jack Beckwith about a refund, he has not responded to several emails, phone calls nor a registered letter. This is not how a businessman handles his business. Sometimes things happen, employers have to absorb fees when mistakes happen, not the client. A good businessman always works to please a customer. As a customer, I will never be able recommend this man or his company to anyone.
