Communities for a Better Environment (CBE) is a social justice organization which provides environmental health and justice. Based in Huntington Park, Calif., it works for reducing pollution from oil refineries, power plants, seaports, airports, and chemical manufacturers across areas populated by low-income African Americans, Latinos and other nationalities. It runs campaigns for against causes such as racism, poverty, violence and lack of access to services suffered by the people residing across the industrial belt of California. Its youth wing, named 'Youth for Environmental Justice' (Youth EJ), empowers youth to take a stand for social and environmental justice. Communities for a Better Environment became one of the top 10 nonprofits in the Bay Area fighting climate change in 2010, as declared by Philanthropedia.
