  Dr. Jason Crawford is the new owner and doctor of NorthCross Eye Associates.  Dr. Crawford and his wife, Dr. Summer Belk, a physical therapist, are originally from the greater Charlotte area.  They both attended the University of North Carolina at Charlotte where they obtained their undergraduate degrees.  Dr. Crawford completed his Doctor of Optometry degree at Southern College of Optometry in Memphis, TN.  Following the completion of his Doctor of Optometry, Dr. Crawford was selected for a post-doctoral residency in Family Practice Eye Care at West Tennessee Eye also in Memphis, TN.  After finishing his residency, Dr. Crawford established himself as an associate in the Uptown and SouthPark offices of Spectrum Eye Care in Charlotte, NC.

In addition to being the experts on eye and vision diseases and disorders, doctors of optometry have the education and training to diagnose the ocular manifestations of diseases that affect the entire body, such as, but not limited to, diabetes and hypertension. Dr. Crawford is also qualified to evaluate all of his patients for surgery when appropriate and often manages his patients’ care pre- and post-operatively. Optometrists are able to provide all of the eye care for the vast majority of their patients, only requiring referral for surgical treatment such as Cataract Surgery & Laser Surgery.
