Established in 1927, Phillis Wheatley High School offers an academic curriculum that includes various subjects, such as English, biology, physics, chemistry, algebra, statistics, geometry, calculus, history, geography and economics. It supports a variety of extracurricular programs in fine arts and physical education. The school has a resource center that provides access to various online catalogs and research tools. Located in Houston, Phillis Wheatley High School also conducts sessions in special education. It is a part of the Houston Independent School District, which operates several elementary, middle and high schools. It has human resources, athletics, counseling, transportation, communication and board services divisions.
