Petersen Elementary School serves the educational needs of students in prekindergarten through grade six. The school has an enrollment of more than 700 students and provides a preschool program for students with disabilities. It offers a variety of academic and nonacademic programs to students, including character education, cheerleading, basketball, Title 1 and bilingual. Its S.I.G.H.T.S. program meets the needs of students with exceptional abilities by providing them with opportunities to enhance divergent, critical thinking and reasoning skills. The school s library has a wide collection of fiction and nonfiction books, subject books, magazines, and reference material for teachers.
