Established in 1980, Mayde Creek Junior High School is a public, coeducational school that serves students in grades six through eight. The school offers several academic courses, such as social studies, English, mathematics, physical education, art, foreign languages and science. It offers English as a Second Language, new immigrants, Title I reading, Plato lab and eighth grade language arts block programs. The school also provides opportunities to participate in several extracurricular programs, including band, orchestra, choir, theatre arts, and career and technology. Its parent-teacher association sponsors a variety of teacher-support activities, community nights, field trips and special events for students. The school s campus includes a gymnasium, library, music room, parking lots, cafeteria and classrooms. Its library stocks a range of reading and reference materials. Mayde Creek Junior High School is located in Houston and is administered by the Katy Independent School District, which enrolls more than 53,000 students in over 45 schools.
