ABOUT EAST END. The Greater East End Management District ( GEEMD ) is requesting information from qualified design professional service teams for potential participation in the urban planning, streetscape design, landscape design, engineering, construction management, and construction phase services associated with a portion of the GEEMD Livable Centers Plan funded through Federal Stimulus funding by the Federal Transit Authority in the amount of $5, 000, 000 ( the RFQ ). The Greater East End has set its Disadvantage Business Enterprise ( DBE ) goal for programs utilizing Federal Department of Transportation's funds for fiscal years 2010 2012 in anticipation of the commencement of work for our Livable Centers Phase 1 construction. Click here to view the notice. Public comments are welcome. August 7-Eco Bash on the Bayou! 9 a.m. to noon at Sabine Promenade along Buffalo Bayou. Join First Lady Kathy Hubbard and Former First Lady and Port Commissioner Elyse Lanier for a celebration of Houston's famous waterway. Bayou Clean Up 9 a.m. to 10: 30 a.m. ( gloves and trash bags provided ) and Flash and Trash Fashion Show 11 a.m. to noon, featuring recycled garments by HCC design students and produced by Neal Hamil models. Sample locally grown bites from Houston restaurants and participate in eco-fun activities for the whole family! Volunteer at www.houstonservice.org August 13-Clean & Green Clean Up on the Bayou, 8: 30 a.m. to 12: 30 p.m., 8200 Harrisburg at 100 Wharf, near Broadway Blvd. Celebrating the start of the fourth year of the successful Clean & Green Buffalo Bayou clean up and restoration initiative, volunteers will remove trash along Buffalo Bayou at the waterway's juncture at the Ship Channel. Clean and Green program anchors are Shell Oil and the Port of Houston ; partners are GEEMD, Buffalo Bayou Partnership, Harris County Community Supervision and Correction Dept., and Precinct 6 Constable.
