- Osteoporosis
- Warts
- ArthritisBut the causes of some types of this disease are still not reliably known, such pathologies, in particular, include rheumatoid arthritis. The risk of the disease also increases for reasons such as age, overweight, chronic fatigue, an inactive lifestyle, or vice versa, excessive stress. The impetus for the inflammation development is often a bruise, hypothermia. Initially, with arthritis, inflammation occurs, and if it is not stopped in a timely manner, then the deformity of the joint progresses rapidly and this process is already called arthrosis.
- FibromyalgiaRehabilitation in America for chronic pain syndrome. Individual programs are drawn up for fibromyalgia, myofascial pain syndrome, neuropathies, regional syndrome, migraines and other manifestations.
- Plantar FasciitisPlantar fasciitis. This condition is caused by an inflamed band of tissues (the plantar fascia) running along the underside of your foot. When subjected to excessive stress, the fascia becomes torn and inflamed. The body works to repair the fascia during periods of rest, but the tears can rip back open with the first steps afterwards. For this reason, a primary symptom is sharp heel pain in the morning. Plantar fasciitis is actually the most common source of heel pain for adults.
- Cryotherapy
- Medical Weight LossIn inflammatory processes, the temperature often rises, sweating, chills, weight loss, weakness, and headache appear. The main symptoms are accompanied by other manifestations associated with the cause of the disease.
- RheumatologyThe diagnostic potential of the best US clinics for rheumatology makes it possible to conduct a comprehensive examination of patients, which is necessary for making an accurate diagnosis.
- Pediatric CareIt was this clinic that became the place where many branches of medicine were created, including neurosurgery, urology, endocrinology, and pediatrics. The hospital is also known for its Nursing School, where nurses are trained.
- Diabetic Foot CareIf you have diabetes, you already know the importance of diabetic foot care. There are various facets to this, but one that should not be neglected is proper shoe choices. A good pair of diabetic shoes will help reduce the risk of skin breakdown, which could ultimately lead to a serious medical emergency. Many of these shoe models feature extra depth and room for the insertion of custom orthotics that provide additional protection for your feet.

- OrthopedicsRheumatoid arthritis is a serious disease that can seriously complicate a person’s life. If the patient sees a doctor late, if the disease is running, then medical measures are no longer enough and one has to resort to surgical interventions. Recently, the quality and quantity of innovative surgical technologies have experienced rapid growth. Even such a specialization as rheumatism appeared in orthopedics, which deals with the restoration of joints destroyed by rheumatism. Patients feel much more confident after the operation, the destruction of the joint stops, and the quality of life improves.
- SciaticaNon-steroidal anti-inflammatory drugs are indicated for inflammatory diseases of the joints (rheumatoid arthritis, rheumatism, ankylosing spondylitis, chronic gouty arthritis), degenerative diseases (deforming osteoarthritis, osteochondrosis), lumbago, sciatica, neuralgia, myalgia, diseases of extra-articular tissues (tendovaginitis, bursitis, rheumatic lesions of the soft tissues), post-traumatic pain syndrome accompanied by inflammation, postoperative pain, acute attack of gout, migraine attacks, renal and hepatic colic, infections of ENT organs, residual effects of pneumonia. There are also NSAIDs for topical use in case of injuries of tendons, ligaments, muscles and joints (to relieve pain and inflammation during sprains, dislocations, bruises).
- ArthroscopySynovectomy. Articular synovectomy may be considered if the articular surfaces remain intact and the disease continues to progress for more than six months despite medical therapy. The inflamed mucosa or the inflamed tendon sheath tissue is completely removed surgically. The procedure can be open or performed using arthroscopy. Thanks to this intervention, inflammation is reduced, although the arthritis is not cured.
- Pinched Nerve
- Ankle SurgeryPostoperative instructions provide guidelines for medication use, bandage maintenance, and activity restrictions and/or modifications. When recovering from foot or ankle surgery, it is crucial that you follow these instructions. Doing so will allow your body to recover appropriately and in the shortest possible amount of time. This includes using crutches or other equipment as instructed to keep weight off of the affected area.
- Bunion SurgeryJuvenile Bunions Bunions are commonly associated with womens footwear, but the truth of the matter is that they are often the result of an inherited foot condition. This means that children can develop bunions, just like adults. It is important to start treating a juvenile bunion at the earliest opportunity, since an untreated bunion will progressively worsen. Surgery is the only way to completely correct a bunion, but we do not perform bunion surgery until the patient is older and bones are no longer growing.
- Joint ReplacementArthrodesis. This intervention occurs when joint replacement is no longer possible. The destroyed articular surfaces are removed, and the bones are fixed with plates, screws, wires, or nails until the joint becomes immobile. In place of the diseased joint, a single bone is formed that can withstand a serious load, since its position will be fixed in a physiologically favorable position for the body. The patient will get rid of the pain but will be forced to move with the help of assistive devices. This method is rarely resorted to, but in some cases it is the only way out of this situation.
- BunionsBunionectomy These procedures are used to correct a bunion. Bunions are progressive conditions, which means they do not improve on their own. We can use nonsurgical methods to relive symptoms and relieve discomfort, but only surgery will completely address the condition.
- Neurosurgery
- GangrenePeripheral artery disease (PAD) occurs when plaque builds up on the walls of your arteries giving blood less room to flow, resulting in poor circulation. This can have debilitating effects on your feet, since they are the farthest from your heart, from which all blood flows. It is especially dangerous if you have diabetes and experience numbness in your feet. An injury can occur without your knowledge, and since bad blood flow slows the healing process, such a wound no matter how minor — can snowball into a major problem. The wound will become worse while waiting for blood to bring what it needs to heal, and the longer it takes, the more likely your chances of infection. This can lead to complications such as ulcers, gangrene, and even amputation.
- ArthroscopyRehabilitation in the United States of patients with arthritis and all kinds of joint pathologies. These include the use of the latest drugs, arthroscopy, physical therapy, exercise therapy and special functional gymnastics for the sick.

We treat many childrens foot conditions like ingrown toenails, Severs disease, athletes foot, and tarsal coalition. Your child might not complain about pain or discomfort, so pay attention to other clues like limping or sudden withdrawal from activities that he or she would normally enjoy. Then contact our office and get the help your son or daughter needs.
- CornsBesides the obvious hammer head-like appearance, you might also experience discomfort wearing shoes, walking, or just plain moving your toe. Often it is hard to flex or wiggle your toes, and you may notice swelling, redness, or a burning sensation. Corns and calluses can form between the toes and on top of the middle joint due to pressure and friction from shoes. Unfortunately, this is a progressive condition, so the longer it goes untreated, the more severe the situation becomes and the harder it is to straighten the toe without surgery. In the early stages, this condition is referred to as flexible, while later stages are considered rigid. As you can imagine, the earlier you seek treatment the better!
- Cyst
- UlcerUlcers are skin wounds that are slow to heal. In the foot, as prominent metatarsal heads on the plantar (bottom of the foot)are subjected to increased pressure, the skin begins to become callused. When subjected to shearing forces, there is a separation between the layers on this callused skin, which fills with fluid and becomes contaminated and infected. The result is a foot ulcer.
- CallusesThe easiest symptom of a bunion to identify is the bulging bump that can be found on the outside of the metatarsal joint at the base of your big toe. Additionally, there will be soreness, swelling, and redness around it. Corns or calluses are often developed at the point of overlap for the big and second toes. A bunion can lead to restricted movement of your toe and either intermittent or persistent pain in the area. When you experience these symptoms, it is time to schedule an appointment with Houston Foot Specialists.
- FungusFungi thrive in warm, damp environments, like sweaty socks and shoes or locker room showers. Just a tiny break in the skin is all that is needed for fungus to take up camp beneath your toenail and even spread to others. A blister, scrape or slight separation of your nail from its bed can send an open invitation to fungal infections, so if youre wondering where your fungal toenails came from, look no further than your footwear or lack thereof if youve gone barefoot at the gym! In other words, dont leave your toes exposed, especially if they have even the slightest of injuries.

- Psoriasis
- Sports MedicineSports rehabilitation in the USA. These programs are considered one of the best in the entire Western Hemisphere and allow you to quickly recover even with the most severe sports injuries.
- Physical TherapyToday’s article will tell the details about the arthritis, its symptoms, diagnosis, treatment, and where to buy medications to overcome this disease. Joint pain significantly worsens the quality of life, but it is also a serious sign that inflammatory and destructive processes are taking place in your body. Their consequences are constrained movements, deformation and, in the absence of adequate treatment, disability. Arthritis is a disease that affects not only the elderly, but sometimes children. In children, this disease is called juvenile arthritis. People have to work and live, constantly overcoming pain. Therefore, the most acute question in such cases is how to treat arthritis? Depending on the form, disease stage, various techniques are prescribed, including physiotherapy, the use of medications, ointments, injections, physical therapy and other modern means.
- Occupational TherapyRehabilitation of patients with limb anomalies and after amputations. Programs of this type include complex and individual schemes for each patient, which are based on occupational therapy, physiotherapy procedures, sedation, psychological counseling, high-tech prosthetics and social work.

- Ankle SprainAn ankle sprain occurs when the foot twists or rotates suddenly. We can compare the ligaments that hold the ankle in place to rubber bands. An unnatural twisting causes the ligaments, tendons, or muscles to stretch beyond their limits. This can result in excessive stretching or even tearing of one or more ligaments surrounding the ankle. The degree of damage will depend on the severity of the sprain, which can range from mild to severe at the moment of injury. A mild sprain that is not properly cared for could lead to further tissue damage and develop into a long-term problem.
- Back Pain
- Manual TherapySpinal rehabilitation, which is performed to prevent the worsening of injuries and back pain. In addition to traditional methods, it involves the use of therapeutic massage, manual therapy, chiropractic, acupuncture.

- General PodiatryHouston Foot Specialists is led by Dr. Aleisha C. Allen, who was born and raised in Tyler, TX before heading to The University of New Hampshire and earning her Bachelor of Science in general biology. Dr. Allen then proceeded to earn her Doctor of Podiatric Medicine (DPM) from Dr. William M. Scholl College of Podiatric Medicine before returning back home to Texas.
- Achilles TendonitisInjuries commonly seen as a result of martial arts and kick boxing include plantar fasciitis, Achilles tendonitis, sesamoiditis, and ankle sprains. Stretching is recommended to help prevent injury: specifically, a minimum of 15 minutes of stretching before performing any kicking or punching.
- Ankle SprainThere are a wide variety of causes for broken ankles, most commonly a fall, an automobile accident, or sports-related trauma. Because a severe sprain can often mask the symptoms of a broken ankle, every ankle injury should be examined by a physician.
- Bunions ProblemsThe human body is a marvelous collaboration of a wide array of parts, each performing an intended function. Your feet are comprised of over sixty joints that enable you to stand and be mobile. Everything is fine when the joints function as they should, but pain and discomfort can arise when parts fall out of line. Bunions are one example of what can happen when components dont line up like they should.

- Fungus ToenailsDo yucky, yellow toenails giving you the blues? Toenail fungus is whats likely behind that discoloration, and unfortunately, once the fungus takes hold, fighting it can be tough! Of course, its easier to fight the fungi if you team up with an ally! Prompt treatment and prevention tips from Dr. Aleisha Allen can help you wipe out fungal toenails and keep them from coming back.
- HammertoesIf your toe curls downward so that only the tip is in contact with the floor and the middle joint juts up, you have yourself a hammertoe. Aptly named due to its resemblance to the head of a hammer, this condition is most often seen in the second or third toe, although it can happen to any. There are a number of reasons for hammertoes to occur, but no matter the culprit of the curl, prompt treatment is necessary to avoid the toe stiffening and staying in this abnormal position.
- Heel SpursHeel spurs. Bone spurs are calcium deposits that build up over time in response to external forces or pressure. Heel spurs, specifically, develop on the underside of the heel, and can happen in tandem with plantar fasciitis.
- Heel PainWe treat many foot and ankle conditions here at Houston Foot Specialists, but heel pain treatment is a common service we provide for our patients. If you are having this issue, simply contact our office and request an appointment. We will diagnose the condition and then create a treatment plan to relieve symptoms so you can go back to doing your favorite activities!

- Ingrown ToenailsI have had surgery twice for an ingrown toenail on my right big toe. For the first time, everything worked out “with little blood”: an outpatient surgeon performed a partial resection of the nail plate on the side of the ingrown nail. The anesthesia was local, I didn’t feel much pain, the healing happened pretty quickly. I am grateful to this surgeon for an almost painless and accurate (without causing major injury) operation, but … after a year and a half or two years, the nail began to grow in again. This is not the fault of the operating surgeon – relapses occur with all methods of treatment.
- MetatarsalgiaFor women who work in office settings, we understand wanting to wear pumps or stilettos if the dress code calls for professional attire. High heels might not actually cause bunions, as has been previously thought, but they can exacerbate an existing issue or potentially lead to neuromas or metatarsalgia (forefoot pain). With this being the case, give some consideration to only wearing your high heels at the office. Choose other, sensible models for your commute, and then slip on those pumps or stilettos once you are at work and take them off before heading home.
- Foot NeuromaIn the lower body, the most common neuroma tends to be a Mortons neuroma. This nerve enlargement develops between the third and fourth toes. It is sometimes called an intermetatarsal neuroma, because it is located between the metatarsal bones in the ball of the foot.
- Plantar FasciitisSevers disease. Plantar fasciitis is the leading cause of heel pain for adults, but Severs is the most common source for kids (more specifically, adolescents). Severs isnt actually a disease, though. Instead, it is a condition that occurs when the heel bone reaches physical maturity before the Achilles tendon. This leads to tightness and pulling in the back of the heel. The pain is often worse with physical activity and treatment is centered on relieving symptoms (since the condition will resolve itself over time, without any long-term issues).
