  In addition to her experience in private practice, Debra is a former staff attorney for the Texas First District Court of Appeals, where she handled civil and criminal appeals, original proceedings and motions. She was an adjunct professor of advocacy at South Texas College of Law from 1993 to 1997, and an adjunct professor in the University of Houston Law Center’s legal research and writing program from 1997 to 1998.
• Wrongful Death
  Spencer obtained a defense verdict on behalf of the designer and seller of motorcycle helmets in a products liability wrongful death case where it was alleged that the decedent’s motorcycle helmet was defectively designed and marketed. Verdict upheld on appeal to the United States Court of Appeals to the Fifth Circuit.
• Fraud
  Successfully prosecuted and settled real estate fraud claims on behalf of clients who were sold property burdened with delinquent property taxes. The sellers utilized seller financing to avoid disclosure of the delinquent property taxes until after the sale was final. Once the delinquent taxes were discovered, suit was filed and a speedy settlement was obtained.

  In addition to his personal injury docket, Spencer maintains an active commercial practice, representing and serving as general counsel for his business clients from pre-suit disputes through trial if needed.   Steven also maintains an active commercial practice, counseling and representing a broad range of business clients, ranging from small family owned companies to companies listed in the Fortune® 500. Such services include the preparation and review of employment agreements, service contracts, dealership agreements, investigation of pre-suit claims and resolution of claims brought by and against former employees and/or directors.  Steven recently tried and won a lawsuit where he represented an insurance agent being sued under a non-compete agreement, receiving a judgment awarding his client his attorneys’ fees.

  Erik’s commercial docket includes probate, small business transactional matters, and providing general counsel services to many of his clients. Such services include the preparation of asset-purchase agreements, employment contracts, non-compete agreements, and investigating and handling pre-suit legal disputes.

  Debra is an experienced litigator and appellate attorney whose practice focuses on protecting her client’s interests from trial through appeal in courts throughout Texas and the United States.  Over more than two decades of practice, Debra has successfully advocated for clients in commercial litigation, probate litigation, real estate disputes, first-party insurance litigation and coverage matters, and professional malpractice cases. Recognized for her rigorous preparation and sound analysis, District Courts in Harris and other counties routinely appoint Debra as guardian ad litem for minors in civil litigation.
• Premises Liability
  Spencer obtained multiple defense verdicts on behalf of property owners and managers in premises liability/negligent security cases arising out of the shooting deaths of tenants and/or guest of tenants. Verdicts upheld on appeal and/or not challenged after the entry of judgment.
