Bane Elementary School enrolls more than 800 students in kindergarten through grade five. The school s academic curriculum includes various subjects, such as reading, language arts, mathematics, science and social studies. It additionally offers classes in technology applications, health and physical education, art, music and theater arts. Bane Elementary School employs counselors, diagnosticians, speech and language pathologists, content area liaisons, and dyslexia and reading specialists on its staff. It offers bilingual and gifted and talented education programs for students. The school has a learning resource center that houses supplemental multimedia materials and a variety of recreational and informational reading selections. In addition, Bane Elementary School features enrichment activities, such as student clubs, tutorial sessions, cultural arts programs, academic competitions and field trips. It publishes its own newsletter. The school is located in Houston and is a part of the Cypress-Fairbanks Independent School District.
