After a drive along the canal, my wife and I decided to stop for a snack. The service was reasonable but the food was nothing special. The portions were small and relatively expensive for the area. If you choose to sit on the pier by the kitchen window you will get a view of both the water as well as the dead bugs in the window.

Went there for the first time ever on July 17th, 2011. The food was great. The atmosphere is very quaint and cozy. Would have Loved to have had dinner out on their pier but the weather would not allow that day. Definitely will go back on the first real nice day so we can dine outside. As we were entering the place a group of six senior citizens were exiting. I asked them how the food was, they replied "you're in for a treat". They were right. Usually when you see groups of senior citizens flocking to or from an eatery that's a good indicator that the food is good. It Is!!!!!

On weekends only, El Puerto has the most stupendous breakfast in the region for less than $10. Eggs done your way correctly, bacon AND sausage, hash browns, toast. We found it on a camping trip to Potlatch, but would drive the 60 miles from Hoquiam for our weekly "date breakfast". The service was so attentive, we felt like the only ones there...but the cafe was full. Some chose to eat on the outside deck. Nikki in Hoquiam

After sampling a couple of lunch places in Hoodsport, I think I've found a good one.The menu is typical Mexican-restaurant-in-America - no real surprises. The preparation is as good as any I've had and the food was tasty. The service was attentive. and the prices were most reasonable. Lunch for me and my partner was less that $20 including tip.The dinning room extends over the water with a view of Hood Canal from almost every seat. There's a large outdoor dining area on a dock adjacent to the building for good weather. This may be the best food in Hoodsport, at least in the off-season.
