• Criminal Defense
  The Criminal Defense Division of our firm has been representing individuals charged with major crimes in state and Federal courts throughout Florida since 1979. The Criminal Defense Division was formed by attorney Dennis Schaefer following the completion of his term as a Broward County Assistant State Attorney.
• Wrongful Death
  According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA) 37,461 people were killed in 34,436 motor vehicle crashes in the year 2016, which is the last year that data has been analyzed. In that year, there was an average of 102 deaths per day. Crash related deaths were on the decline previous to the year 2015 but unfortunately have been increasing since. While NHTSA cites no specific reason for the increase, anyone who has driven lately can probably point to at least a few reasons for the increase. One big reason is that many drivers appear to be distracted by their smartphones and devices while driving. Their inattention is leading to an extreme amount of Wrongful Death.
• Traffic Violations
  Our client was a husband and father of two minor boys when he died in an automobile accident as the result of the negligence of a commercial truck driver. The trucking company claimed that the decedent failed to use due care and was speeding. Prior to filing a lawsuit we were able to obtain the maximum policy limits of $1,000,000 for our client's family.

Property Law

• Property Damage
  Our client was driving a mid-sized sedan on the day of this crash. The sedan proved to be no match for the much bigger passenger van. Though the property damage to our client’s vehicle was not necessarily visually impressive, the sheer size and weight of the bus packed a powerful punch even at a moderate to low rate of speed. Our client’s car didn’t get damaged too badly but our client’s neck suffered a disc herniation. Though our client tried to avoid any serious medical procedures, he soon learned that the only way he was going to get out of extreme pain was by allowing a surgeon to perform a fusion of the vertebrae of his neck.
