With a location in Hinton, W.Va., the West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources conducts a range of educational, medical and job-related programs for state residents. Its programs include adolescent pregnancy prevention, AIDS awareness, and accountability and management reporting services. The West Virginia Department of Health and Human Resources offers birth defect surveillance, family planning and infectious disease epidemiology services. It also features the Early Childhood Health Project, which focuses on health and safety standards at home and in child care centers. The department offers basic life support, bioterrorism preparedness and continuing education classes for public health employees and health care service providers.
