New York Community Bancorp is the holding company for New York Community Bank, a New York state-chartered savings bank, with more than 135 banking offices, serving customers in all five boroughs of New York City, Long Island, Westchester County, and New Jersey. Founded in 1859, it operates through seven established divisions, each one with a strong local identity. In New York, this includes Queens County Savings Bank, Roslyn Savings Bank, Richmond County Savings Bank, Roosevelt Savings Bank, and CFS Bank. In New Jersey, it serves customers through First Savings Bank of New Jersey and Ironbound Bank. Joseph R. Ficalora has been the chief executive officer of New York Community Bancorp for more than 13 years. He has been with the banking and investment firm for over 41 years.
