"Reinaldo Paya, M.D., specializes in internal medicine. Dr. Paya completed an internal medicine residency at the Faculty of Medicine Salvador Allende (formerly Covadonga) in Havana, Cuba, 1982 to 1985 and was an instructor of medicine at the University of Havana during that time as well and received an Honorary Mention as an Instructor of Medicine at the Outpatient Teaching Clinic. He earned his medical degree from the University of Havana School of Medicine in Havana, Cuba, 1976 to 1982. As an undergraduate, he attended the School of Biology and Education (Pedagogy) of the University of Havana in Havana, Cuba 1975 to 1976, the School of Economics of the University of Havana in Havana, Cuba, 1973 to 1974, and studied Philosophy and Humanities at the San Carlos and San Ambrosio Catholic Seminary in Havana, Cuba, 1969- 1972. Dr. Paya served as an internist at the Polyclinic Heroes de Corinthia and as a professor of infectious and communicable diseases at the Cuban Institute of Internal Medicine in Havana, Cuba, 1985 to 1988. He has been in general practice in the United States since 1991. Dr. Paya has been recognized through the NCQA’s Diabetes Recognition Program (DRP). Clinicians who achieve DRP Recognition show their peers, patients and others in the Diabetes community that they are part of an elite group that is publicly recognized for its skill in providing the highest-level diabetes care."
