We ordered mulch from Pete Rose because the price is the cheapest. However, you won't get as much mulch as you get from others, so BEWARE! We order 20 yds every year from other suppliers but this year ordered from Pete Rose due to price. We didn't even get half of our yard done! We knew how much mulch we normally get and this didn't come close. Neighbors even commented that there was no way we got 20 yds. We started putting it down at 1 PM and were done by 4:30. No way I can wheelbarrow 20yds of mulch that fast. We even questioned the driver about it and called the company, but they were not willing to do anything. I will not order from them again.

I have had consistent EXCELLENT results with hardwood mulch delivered by Pete Rose over the last 5 years. They delivered on time and we wouldn't consider using anyone else.
Pete Rose Landscaping Supply have a broad range of landscaping materials. The service department has always spent as much time with me as I needed. It is really a one stop have it all kinda place. As too this top soil question, I can understand the frustration, however clay is very rich in nutrients and a major plus to any good top soil. Many of my friends are quite jealous of my rich clay soil.Virginia Tech has a recipe on how to mix up a good top soil, I would check with a Tech Ext. agent in any county in Virginia, Tell them what you are planting and they will give you that specific recipe.Pete Rose will mix the soil to your specifications.See the link to find your recipe >>> www ext vt edu/ put the dot back in tho.Rose has no idea of which soil structure he is to provide unless you ask. If this were the case he would need 25 different top soils. Plus he would insult as many people asking such a question.

I had the same issue with the soil from Pete Rose. I requested (and paid extra for) a mix of topsoil and compost, but nothing did well in it. It took a lot of attention to condition the soil adequately. I think it would have ended up being cheaper and less work to buy 100+ bags of topsoil from Lowes.
Soil appearance can be very hard to judge at delivery, but once plants will not grow and a soil sample reveals the truth about the soil composition it's too late to discuss according to Pete Rose. Moving soil is a dirty (excuse the pun) job do yourself a favor and get referrals... I didn't... I wish I did.
