I have had very good experiences at this salon. My only concern is that I noticed that of the technicians I saw did not use new gloves on each pedicure client. The technicians that I saw simply took off their gloves and put them in their pocket at the end of the pedicure. I didn't see new gloves anywhere in the Salon, not even in the trash. Then, when the next client arrived the used gloves were retrieved from the pocket and reused on the next client. That means that they are protecting themselves from contracting germs, fungus and bacteria, but are passing all of the above from client to client. Also I did not see any instruments used cleaned after each use. The pumice stone they use while performing pedicures are porous and are a haven for bacteria. Just a cursory look at the instruments used will reveal a prior clients skin particles and cuticle matter. No microscope needed. The salon is beautiful, the technicians are friendly and are skilled at making your nails and toes look wonderful. I am contacting the health department in hopes that once cited the salon will realize the health risk patrons of this salon are in. I have found this is a common practice among many nail salons. A little education and enforcement of the health laws could prevent possible transference of microorganisms, fungus and other dangerous contagious skin conditions and infections. The next time you go in to any salon notice if they put on fresh gloves or open a fresh pumice stone or if there are skin particles on a nail file that don't belong to you. I seriously doubt any technician would perform a pedicure without gloves on. As a client I would appreciate the same protection and consideration. There are two salons that I know of that clean all of their instruments. They are Romantic Nails in Richmond and Sassy nails deluxe in Mechanicsville. In closing I have to say I have not contracted anything from any nail salon. However I have seen the outcome of people who have contracted an infection. Also keep in mind that pedicure spas that have jets retain water in the lines when the jets are turned off. Then when the basin is drained at the conclusion of the pedicure, there is still water left in the lines of the jets. When the next pedicure is prepared the water from the prior client is then the expelled from the lines into your pedicure. I always insist on keeping the jets off. Having said all of these negative things, I still have to say my nails look wonderful, and if they start to follow health guidelines this is the salon I would go to. Personally, I think they should sell mini sets of instruments that include a file, a pumice stone, a buffer and a orange wedge stick. All metal instruments can be sterilized. All of the above minus the metal instruments cost under $1.50. As for me I always take my own cuticle nippers, files etc. Thank you for reading.

Love this salon! Always very clean and friendly. I get weekly manicures and get constant compliments. Once a month I get a pedicure- love thecalf/foot hot stone massage which is included! Have been a consistant client since they opened.

I highly recommend Max Nails to my family and friends. What an exceptional salon! You are treated like royalty when you come. The salon is exceptionally clean and it shows. I give Maxx a five star rating. I have been coming for three years. Ever since the salon was open. If you want superior service, Maxx is the place to come. I can't say enough good things about it. Come and try it out yourself. Martha Perdue :)
