My Mother, Grace Threlkeld, passed away on 9/3/2013. Before I even contacted Bliley's, someone called me that morning around 10 a.m. to ask me when I would like to schedule an appointment to make final arrangements. That might be the norm, since I've never been through this experience before, but I was impressed and already felt cared for. When I arrived to make funeral arrangements (at the Bliley's on Hull St. Rd.) I was met by Jeannie Pecan and Tom Tatum. They are wonderful people and showed so much compassion, care, and attention to details. I noticed Jeannie's last name and said, "Pecan like the pie?" She said yes. From that moment on she became "Sweetie Pie" to me. It would make both of us smile during a sad time in my life. While making the arrangements Tom & Jeannie knew just what to do and were very proficient and professional at their jobs. The two of them were not just funeral planners but counselors, good listeners, and showed genuine care.
Blileys Funeral Home has been providing our family with funeral services for over forty years now. But I felt compiled to write a review because of an unexpected act of kindness beyond funeral services. Over forty years ago when my mother was fourteen her father died. Blileys handled his funeral. And in doing so they provided a grave marker on his plot which is "routine". Grave markers are usually removed after the head stone is put in place. Well my grandmother left it as a foot marker and thats where is had been for forty years until it was destroyed by a lawn mower. My mother contacted the church that "over sees" the care of the cemetery and was literally laughed at when she requested that it be replaced. Thats when I called Blileys. I explained what happened and how important it was to my mother to have this replaced. They said they would replace the marker. When I asked about the cost, I was told that is would be free. That was truly unexpected. To Blileys- Thank you!
