The Motor Carrier Services Division, also known as MCS, is responsible for the protection of Montana s highway and railway systems. The division is a part of the Montana Department of Transportation, which is operated by the government of the state of Montana. The Motor Carrier Services Division is also responsible for the enforcement of state and federal commercial motor carrier laws, rules and regulations. It ensures the safety of the traveling public. The Montana Department of Transportation, also known as MDT, administers various traffic safety programs. The department provides a range of public transportation services, as well as online road reports and maps for travelers.
