St. Joseph Health System traces its origins to 1936 when St. Joseph Regional Health Center was founded by the Sisters of St. Francis, Sylvania, Ohio, in response to a call from a local physician. Starting in a small 35-bed hospital, the organization has grown to 611 licensed beds in seven locations. St. Joseph Health System is an integrated local healthcare system, with facilities in the seven county primary service area of the Brazos Valley. The majority of health services are delivered at our main campus, St. Joseph Regional Health Center, in Bryan, Texas. This facility provides inpatient and outpatient care and major clinical specialties such as oncology, cardiovascular, and neurosciences for comprehensive inpatient and outpatient specialized care to cancer, heart, neurosurgery adn neurology patients. St. Joseph Regional Health Center is the only Joint Commission certified Primary Stroke Center and the only accredited Chest Pain Center in the Brazos Valley. A second campus in Bryan, St. Joseph Rehabilitation Center, provides a comprehensive 30-bed inpatient and outpatient rehabilitaton unit. Three critical access hospitals, Grimes St. Joseph Health Center located in Navasota, Burleson St. Joseph Healh Center located in Caldwell and Madison St. Joseph Health Center in Madisonville, each provide 25 beds.
