Hawthorne Foundation operates the Hawthorne Country Day School, which is a nonprofit school for children with disabilities. The school, located in Hawthorne, N.Y., serves more than 150 children. It provides educational services to children with various disorders, including autism, Asperger's syndrome, Prader-Willi syndrome, multiple disabilities and other health impairments. The foundation s school offers a variety of vocational, academic and language building programs. The school follows instructional methodology that is based on applied behavior analysis, including positive reinforcement, continuous measurement of learning and strategic data analysis based on graphic data displays. It offers instruction in verbal behavior, academic literacy, reading, social skills, self management and problem solving skills.
