Volunteers of America is a social service and welfare organization serving people throughout Los Angeles, Calif. Operational since 1896, the organization has been providing warm meals, Christmas baskets, toys, clothing, winter relief and shelter to the needy. Its social welfare services include children's services, family services, girls and women welfare programs, seniors' services, veterans' services, services to the homeless, and recovery and re-entry, to name a few. The institution s youth welfare programs include a wide variety of education and empowerment support services and college scholarships to impoverished youth.
