- Pediatric CareAt Coastal Children’s Clinic, our staff is trained to carefully care for the special needs of our pediatric population in an efficient and accommodating manner. Our pediatricians are certified by the American Board of Pediatrics or are Board-eligible, are current Fellows of the American Academy of Pediatrics, have been recognized by the National Committee for Quality Assurance, and have admitting privileges with CarolinaEast Health Systems in New Bern. Our practice is enhanced by three Pediatric Nurse Practitioners and an advanced care team. Providers and staff continually pursue ongoing education to stay abreast of the latest in child health care.

- Emergency CareWeekend Appointments are for sick and urgent care only and are available at our New Bern office ONLY. There are no Walk-In hours on the weekends. Please call during our weekend hours for an appointment time on the day you need to be seen. You will be able to get an appointment time - we do not "sell out" on weekends! If you have an urgent care need after hours, please call the Urgent Call Line (252) 633-2269 and speak directly with the physician on call.
- ImmunizationsOur practice believes that all children should receive the recommended vaccines according to the guidelines provided by the AAP and the CDC. Vaccines are safe and effective in preventing diseases and health complications in children and young adults. Regular vaccinations help children ward off infections, and are administered as one of the safest and best methods of disease prevention.

- General SurgeryMelissa was born and raised in North Wilkesboro, NC. As a member of the Honors College, she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Nursing from Western Carolina University in 2000. As a registered nurse, she worked in Critical Care in Asheville, NC. While working returned to school to receive a Maters of Science Degree with a concentration as a Family Nurse Practitioner from Clemson University in South Carolina. Since then she has worked in SC in pediatric primary care then relocated to UT. While in UT, she worked in various areas from pediatric education, to children’s surgical services at Primary Children’s Hospital in Salt Lake City. After moving back to NC, she joined Coastal Children’s Clinic in 2012. Melissa and her Husband David live in Swansboro with their children, Parker, Patrick and Piper. She enjoys attending her children’s sporting events, spending time with family, and traveling. She serves the patients in our Maysville office.
